Shakespeare by the Sea Festival is now booking audition slots for our 2025 Summer Season!
Auditions will be held in person on April 13th, 14th, and 15th on Memorial University's campus (room # to be given upon booking). We also welcome self-tape submissions for those unable to attend, or prefer to submit virtually - please email [email protected] for instructions.
All acting positions are held on a volunteer basis, and rehearsals booked based on your personal schedules to the best of our ability. Read throughs and rehearsals will begin in late April/early May, and run until show opening - a tentative schedule will be available at auditions.
We are seeking volunteer community actors of all identities, backgrounds and experience levels (ages 19+) to audition for the following shows:
Love's Labour's Lost July 12th - August 3rd, Saturdays & Sundays at 6:00pm Directed by Lynn Panting Note from Lynn: "This fast-paced, streamlined adaptation of Love’s Labour’s Lost runs approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and will be performed in the round, meaning that actors will be present and engaged for the full performance. This production emphasizes ensemble storytelling and movement. No prior movement experience is required—our process will be collaborative, and all abilities and access needs will be supported. We welcome performers who are excited by physical storytelling, playful collaboration, and bringing Shakespeare to life in an immersive, high-energy environment. A movement callback may be required to explore ensemble dynamics."
The Merry Wives of Windsor July 17th - August 8th, Thursdays & Fridays at 6:00pm Directed by Paul Rowe Note from Paul: "My emphasis, as always, will be on the supremacy of the text. Every effort will be made to deliver it clearly and concisely and to maximum effect. The cast and crew of Merry Wives will be operating in an atypical venue with multiple points of entry and close audience contact. There will be many discoveries. As such, it should be a fun, fast-paced event with lots of opportunities for spontaneous exploration. "
The Merry Conceited Humours of Bottome the Weaver A Play for Young Audiences July 12th - August 2nd, Saturdays at 11am & 1pm Directed by Luke Rowe Note from Luke: "In this all-ages production of The Merry Conceited Humors of Bottome the Weaver, we are seeking those comfortable with merriment, lovers of a good ol’ conceit, and those humorous about humours (whether of the body or spirit). Familiarity with music (making, playing, listening, having heard of the concept from afar) is a plus and all access needs will be met. All are welcome regardless of experience level. Please let us know if you have any casting requests or comfort levels (e.g., comfortable playing only a specific gender, preferring a smaller part, not interested in any zany characters, must play Thisbe too, etc.)"
When you email for an audition time, please allow 2 business days for a reply. The General Manager will process requests as time permits. If you do not hear back within 2 days, please check in to ensure your request was received. We look forward to hearing from you!
