1. When can I submit my presentation proposal for #STACON26? We are accepting submissions to present at #STACON26 A Great Feast of Languages starting March 15, 2025. The deadline for submitting a proposal is 11:59pm (PST) Saturday May 31, 2025.
2. When and where will the conference be held? #STACON26 A Great Feast of Languages will be held January 5-10, 2026, in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The Main Conference sessions (January 8-10) will take place at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland.
3. What is the fee to submit a proposal? There is no fee to submit a proposal.
4. Where do I submit a proposal? Proposals are submitted online. On March 15 2025, we will open the call for proposals and provide the link.
5. Do I have to be a STA member to submit a proposal? STA membership is not a prerequisite for submitting a proposal or being listed as a co-presenter on a proposal, per se. However, proposals from STA members will be advantaged and we do encourage your organization to become a member and receive the many benefits associated with membership, which include the privilege of attending the annual conference, which is otherwise only open to our membership. 6. What is the difference between the primary presenter and the co-presenters on proposal? STA assumes that the primary presenter is the “author” who will organize the session if the proposal is accepted. The primary presenter is responsible for ensuring that all co-presenters register on time at the presenter rate.
7. Can I submit more than one proposal? Yes, but try and resist. :) 8. What are the registration requirements for presenters for #STACON26? Those invited to participate as presenters, workshop leaders or panelists will receive a 10% discounted price point on the early registration fee. Presenters must pre-register for the conference by September 30 to receive this discount and confirm their sessions.

10. Am I automatically registered for the conference by submitting a proposal? No. You must register for the conference separately.
11. What type of session formats are offered during the proposal process? Practicon workshops, discussion panels on a focused topic, and single or double presenter presentations.
12. What issue areas do I select from when submitting my proposal? Sessions need not align to a single track, but often conference sessions are organized by target audiences: artistic leadership, education leadership or management leadership. You will have an opportunity to select which group(s) your proposal would likely benefit the most.
13. Can I edit my proposal after it has been submitted? Sure, if you like, anytime before the deadline you can resubmit your proposal and note that it replaces an earlier submission.
14. How will my proposal be evaluated? Conference proposals will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
The proposal adheres to the conference proposal guidelines.
The description is well organized, concise, and clearly written.
The subject contributes to a balanced conference program.
Asset qualification: The topic is consistent with the identified needs of the artistic, education and management caucuses of STA.
Asset qualification: the topic connects in some way to the 2025 conference theme, “A Great Feast of Languages”
We will prioritize proposals based on a balanced program as well as the listed review criteria. The review group includes members of the local planning committee in consultation with STA’s Executive Committee and Caucus Chairs.
15. Can I withdraw my proposal after the submission deadline? Yes. To withdraw a proposal submission, please email the conference team at [email protected].
16. How will I know that my proposal has been received? You will receive an acknowledgement email as soon as your proposal has been submitted.
17. When will I be notified about my proposal? You will be notified via email in the summer of 2025 advising you whether your proposal has been selected.
