1. Where do the shows take place?
Each show has its own location. Love's Labour's Lost plays at Memorial University's St. John's campus, in Toulinguet Close - between the Arts, Science, and Henrietta Harvey buildings. Merry Wives plays at The ALT Hotel downtown St. John's. Bottome the Weaver has a different location every week. Visit our What's On page for specific details!
2. When will the festival take place?
The Festival runs from July 12th - August 8th 2025. Performances are Thursday - Sunday.
3. Is parking available at performances?
Parking is available for Love's Labour's Lost in Lot 15B on the MUN campus. Accessible spots are available nearer the space in lot 1A. Please email us at [email protected] if you require additional directions.
For Merry Wives, downtown on-street parking is free after 6:00pm, and the ALT Hotel has a pay per hour garage.
Parking is readily available at all locations of Bottome the Weaver.
4. Do you accept Attendant Passes?
Yes! If you have a valid attendant pass issued by the City of St. John's, please present it when you arrive. Feel free to contact us at [email protected] to ensure seat availability.
5. Is there seating at each venue?
In SBTS tradition, we ask audience members to bring their own seating/chairs, though some venues have some seating available. For Love's Labour's Lost, 16x16" black folding chairs are available in fixed locations, as well as three picnic tables. At Merry Wives, seating is provided at picnic tables in fixed locations. Each venue has a limited capacity, and seating/placement is first come, first served. There is no planned seating available at Bottome the Weaver performances.
6. What time do performances start?
Love's Labour's Lost and The Merry Wives of Windsor start at 6:00pm so that we can end in daylight - no lighting, remember! Bottome the Weaver has two performances, at 11am and 1pm on Saturdays only.
7. Are service animals/pets welcome?
Service animals are always welcome at Shakespeare by the Sea performances. Pets are welcome provided they are leashed and not disruptive to the performance.
8. Can I bring food/drinks to the show?
Outside food is not permitted at The Merry Wives of Windsor, but The ALT Hotel will have drinks available for purchase at intermission.
You're welcome to bring your own food and drinks to Love's Labour's Lost and Bottome the Weaver - but beware hungry seagulls!
9. What time should I arrive for performances?
Audience members are encouraged to arrive no later than 5:55pm so that all performances can start on time. We cannot guarantee your seating once a show begins, though we will try our best.
10. Can I volunteer in festival performances?
We are always looking for volunteers to assist with setup/tear down, and general tasks during performances. If you wish to volunteer, please email us at [email protected]. If you wish to volunteer as an actor, stay tuned for our 2026 audition notice!
