As a volunteer, contractor or employee of the company, you have committed to helping the company for the period of the production schedule.
You are expected to bring your best self to rehearsals, performances, and other company events, and your behaviour will reflect both on yourself and the company as a whole. Our core value is a company: ALL HANDS TO THE PUMP!
Our other values as a company include:
Accountability
Artistic Inspiration
Camaraderie
Commitment
Inclusion
Mentorship and Development
Pride of Place
How you treat your fellow volunteers and company members will be considered when the company is looking into who to invite to join the company for following seasons.
Preparation for Rehearsals
Actors are expected to:
practice and memorize their scripts regularly,
to be prepared for rehearsals, and learn all lines ahead of the scheduled “off book date” set by the director and stage manager.
Please inform your Stage Manager as early as you can if this is not going to be possible; exceptions can be made in some circumstances and we will work together to come up with a plan to get you stage-ready.
You are expected to be on time (if not early) to each rehearsal and call time given by your Stage Manager.
For rehearsals, your time and location for rehearsal will be sent by your stage manager ahead of the rehearsal.
For performances, you are expected to arrive at least 1 hour ahead of the scheduled performance or earlier at the request of the Stage Manager.
You are expected to arrive prepared with your script and any other items (e.g. props, costumes, etc.) that you have agreed to bring to a rehearsal/performance as discussed by the production team and yourself.
Absence Policy
This policy exists to protect the mental wellbeing of the company as a whole; routine absences from rehearsal negatively impact everyone in the show.
An unexcused absence where no communication is received from you, or where you contact your stage manager less than four (4) hours before you are expected at rehearsal
The first unexcused absence from rehearsal we will: give you a warning in writing.
After a second unexcused absence: you will be asked to leave the company.
Exceptions will be made for emergencies (family crises, traffic accidents, etc.) on a case-by-case basis.
Impairment Policy
Company members must not be impaired for rehearsals and show calls. This includes: alcohol, cannabis, and illicit substances.
A discussion can be had with leadership about medical exemptions as indicated on your Health & Accessibility form.
If you are impaired (for example, to a level where it would be unsafe to drive), please do not attend rehearsal.
This applies to all members, regardless of driving status.
Violation of this policy can result in immediate dismissal from the company.
